A Partnership of Success
Cardiff-based legal training provider Brightlink Learning Ltd, an Itec Skills and Employment partner for the delivery of Welsh Legal Services Apprenticeships, has continued its recent success after being recognised across multiple Welsh business awards for its contribution to legal education, professional development, and inclusive employment.
Brightlink works in partnership with Itec Skills and Employment on the delivery of the Welsh Legal Services Apprenticeship programme, with more than 80 apprentices now undertaking legal apprenticeships across a broad range of law firms and in-house legal teams throughout Wales.
As part of the partnership, Itec supports the onboarding of apprentices and delivers the Essential Skills element of the programme, helping learners develop the wider professional and transferable skills needed to succeed within the legal sector.
Awards
At the Business Growth Wales Awards (South and Mid Wales), held at the Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, Brightlink won both the Excellence in Education Award and the Legal & Professional Business Award. CEO Lorna Baldry was also recognised as a finalist in the Visionary Leadership Award category.
Most recently, Brightlink was awarded Highly Commended in the Inclusive Employer of the Year category at the Wales Business Awards 2026, recognising the organisation’s commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and creating supportive pathways into legal careers.
The awards reflect a period of sustained organic growth for the organisation, which now supports around 500 learners, including Welsh Legal Services Apprentices alongside learners undertaking CILEX qualifications, SQE preparation, legal apprenticeships, and continuing professional development programmes.
Background
Although headquartered in Cardiff, Brightlink delivers its apprenticeship and legal training programmes fully online through a combination of digital learning platforms, live workshops, specialist tutor support, and dedicated pastoral guidance. This flexible approach allows learners to balance study alongside employment and family commitments while progressing their legal careers.
The flexibility of the apprenticeship programmes also enables learners to gain practical workplace experience while developing specialist knowledge in particular areas of law throughout their training journey, supporting both career progression and employer workforce development needs.
The organisation works closely with law firms, in-house legal teams, and professional services employers to help develop skilled legal professionals and improve access to the profession for individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and career stages.
The Brighlink Today
Brightlink’s team now includes 10 contracted staff and 13 associate tutors based across the UK and internationally. The organisation’s tutors include experienced legal academics and practising lawyers who provide learners with practical, real-world insight into the profession.
Speaking about the recent recognition, Brightlink Learning CEO Lorna Baldry said:
“Over the last few years, we’ve worked incredibly hard to build a supportive, flexible and values-driven organisation that genuinely helps people progress their careers in law. To receive recognition across multiple awards — particularly for education, professional development and inclusive employment — is something we’re extremely proud of.
These awards are a reflection of the dedication of our team, tutors, learners and employer partners who continue to support the work we do every day. As a family-run Welsh business, it means a great deal to see the impact of that work recognised.
We are also incredibly grateful for the continued support and partnership of Itec Skills and Employment in helping us deliver and grow legal apprenticeships across Wales.”
