The Jobs Guarantee programme, delivered by Itec Skills and Employment, is helping individuals across Southeast and Southwest Wales take positive steps into sustainable employment while supporting employers to access motivated, job-ready talent.

Designed to support people referred through Jobcentres, the fully funded programme provides tailored employability support, training opportunities and direct connections with local employers. By working closely with the Department for Work and Pensions and employer partners, Itec helps participants develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to succeed in the workplace while addressing recruitment needs across a range of industries.

One participant already benefiting from the programme is Lewis Thomas, who secured an opportunity with Lionsgate Security & Events Ltd as an SIA Door Supervisor Security Guard.

Lewis has already gained an impressive range of experience through his role. His assignments have included Ironman Tenby, Ironman Weymouth, Bristol Rovers Football Club matches, Student Roost student accommodation, the St Davids building site student accommodation refurbishment project and football fixtures at Swansea.com’s Stadium.

His experience continues to grow, with additional opportunities at Burger King and Cardiff City Football Club further expanding his knowledge of working within different security environments.

These experiences have allowed Lewis to work in a variety of settings, supporting public safety, managing access points and developing the confidence needed to perform effectively in a customer-facing security role.

Learning Doesn’t Stop When Employment Starts

A key benefit of the Jobs Guarantee programme is its focus on continued development beyond securing employment.

Alongside his work, Lewis is continuing to invest in his professional growth through further learning and training. He is currently completing an Awareness in Spectator Safety qualification, with additional development opportunities potentially including Fire Marshal, Crowd Management, Customer Services Level 3 and Challenge 25 training.

This combination of employment, practical experience and ongoing learning is helping Lewis build a strong foundation for a successful career within the security and events industry.
