Overcoming Challenges: How Tailored Support Empowered Ella Dunn

Ella Dunn joined the programme in August 2025. At the time, she experienced high levels of anxiety and faced several challenges, including travelling independently by bus and attending classroom-based lessons. Large groups and noisy environments also had a significant impact on her wellbeing, making it difficult for her to fully engage.

Over the past months, we have provided Ella with tailored support to help her progress and build confidence. She has begun working with our counsellor, which has contributed positively to her development. Ella now attends wellbeing days, where we ensure she is accompanied by a friend who helps her feel calm and comfortable.

Ella has shown notable improvement during mock interview sessions. She is now able to communicate confidently with staff members she does not know—something that previously triggered high anxiety. Her ability to hold full conversations in these situations demonstrates her growing self-assurance.

Ella is now taking her first steps toward a placement in a primary school. She will also be completing her Communications and Numeracy qualifications with Mick. Her long-term goal is to become a teacher, and she is steadily building the skills and confidence needed to achieve this ambition.
