Bharath Mudundi @ Ashberry Healthcare

Growing in skill, confidence, and resilience: Bharath’s apprenticeship journey

Starting with Purpose

Before joining Ashberry Healthcare as a Healthcare Assistant, Bharath Mudundi knew exactly what he wanted: a recognised qualification, real‑world experience, and the confidence to thrive in a care environment. His goal was clear, achieve his NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care and build the foundations for a long, meaningful career supporting others.

From the beginning, Bharath approached his apprenticeship with determination. He wanted to learn, grow, and become a competent, compassionate care worker. That ambition set the tone for everything that followed.

Learning Through Experience

Working at Ashberry Healthcare’s Blaenos House Nursing Home, Bharath quickly immersed himself in the realities of person‑centred care. He developed a strong understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, communication, and supporting individuals with dignity and respect.

His apprenticeship wasn’t just about completing tasks, it was about becoming confident in his role. Bharath strengthened both his practical and interpersonal skills, from record keeping and teamwork to promoting independence for the people he supports.

Reflecting on his journey, he commented:

“Completing my NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care has increased my confidence, improved my skills, and helped me provide better support to the people I care for every day.”

Facing Challenges

Although Bharath didn’t face major personal barriers, his journey wasn’t without challenge. After completing three of the four elements of his apprenticeship framework, he struggled with the CORE end‑point assessment, failing it five times.

This could have been the moment he stepped back but instead, it became the moment he stepped forward.

His assessor, Kyley Daniels, recognised both his frustration and his potential. She worked closely with him to identify the root issue: the language and terminology used in the MCQ assessment. Together, they explored new strategies, adapted learning methods, and built his confidence back up.

Kyley shared:

“Despite his initial frustration, Bharath showed an admirable commitment to successfully completing the CORE. We spent additional time exploring different methods to help him understand the language and terms used within the assessment. His development in this area will have a positive impact on him going forward in his role and future career progression.”

Her support combined with Bharath’s perseverance paid off. He passed the assessment, completed his full framework, and achieved his qualification.

Kyley added:

“Bharath was deservedly very proud of himself. His journey shows how important it is to provide consistent support and adapt delivery methods so learners are not disadvantaged.”

Growing in Confidence

The apprenticeship has transformed Bharath’s day‑to‑day work. He feels more assured in his responsibilities, more capable in delivering high‑quality care, and more aware of the professional standards expected in the sector.

He now approaches his role with confidence, clarity, and a deeper understanding of how to support individuals living with complex needs.

Looking Ahead

Bharath’s journey doesn’t end with Level 2, it begins there. He plans to continue building his experience, take on additional responsibilities, and keep developing his practical skills. His focus now is on becoming even more effective in his role and continuing to provide exceptional care to the people he supports.
