Forming strong connections with wellbeing-focused organisations is crucial for our JGW+ programme in supporting the holistic development of our learners. We believe that learner wellbeing is at the core of success, both academically and professionally.

Our partnership with Signposted Cymru, a mental health charity based in Wales, enhances the support we can offer at JGW+. Darren attended our Aberdare and Pontypridd centres to deliver a mental health workshop to our learners. The session was highly impactful and engaging.

Following this, our partnership developed, learning Signposted Cymru was expanding, Itec attended their open day, where we met sponsors, the local MP, and partner support agencies.

Learner Impact for JGW+

From this partnership, our learners have the great opportunity to visit the wellbeing hub to take part in wellbeing workshops, learn about community support services, receive LGBTQ+ support, participate in gym sessions, join a sponsored walk to the Pen y Fan summit, and even access placement opportunities within the hub.

These experiences help learners build confidence, engage socially, and strengthen their overall wellbeing.

Community Impact

Since opening the Signposted Cymru Wellbeing Hub in Aberdare, the service has become a vital community resource, providing accessible mental health support, early intervention, and preventative services. The hub works in partnership with NHS services, local authorities, housing providers, and third sector organisations to support individuals before they reach crisis point.

The services Signposted Cymru offer include counselling sessions, wellbeing programmes, fitness and holistic wellbeing activities, advice services and community services.

We are proud to be connected to Signposted Cymru, whose support is enhancing the wellbeing and opportunities available to our learners and strengthening the wellbeing of the wider community.
