Jayden Beach X MG Carpentry
Thriving Through Practical Experience
Jayden Beach, a 16-year-old learner on the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme with Itec Skills and Employment, has made outstanding progress on his journey toward a career in construction.
Jayden began his programme at the Itec Skills centre in Pontypridd, where he initially found the classroom environment challenging. Group settings didn’t suit his learning style, and his confidence was low. However, it was clear from early on that Jayden had a passion for hands-on work and the potential to excel in a more practical setting.
With guidance and support from his Learner Coach, Stacy Barnes & Employability Officer, James Loveridge, a work placement was sourced that aligned with Jayden’s strengths. James worked closely with local employers to find the right fit – and that opportunity came through MG Carpentry, a respected business run by Matty Griffiths.
“It is always fantastic when you see a young person work with a local employer and it just works. Credit to my colleague James on being able to source these opportunities – it has really brought Jayden out of himself and gave him the confidence in himself to go on and make a genuine career in this industry. I’m happy I was able to a part of supporting him and developing him in his personal and professional development.” states Stacy Barnes, Learner Coach.
In the workplace, Jayden truly came into his own. He displayed outstanding punctuality, a genuine eagerness to learn, and a consistently positive attitude. He quickly became a trusted and valued member of the team, showing real promise for a future in the trade.
Jayden’s progress has been so impressive that Matty is now preparing to offer him an Apprenticeship in Carpentry this September, a testament to both his hard work and the supportive environment created at MG Carpentry.
“Jayden’s been brilliant,” says Matty. “He shows up ready to work, takes everything on board, and is always keen to improve. It’s been great to see how far he’s come.”
Jayden is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when employers are willing to invest in young talent and learners are given the chance to prove themselves in the right environment. MG Carpentry’s commitment to developing the next generation of skilled workers deserves real credit – and Jayden’s transformation is proof of what’s possible.
Jayden should be incredibly proud of how far he’s come and how much he has achieved. With an Apprenticeship on the horizon and a clear path ahead, he’s built a solid foundation for a promising future.
Da Iawn Jayden & Goodluck for the future!
