Ghansham Patel – Building Confidence and Skills at JT Search
Ghansham Patel has been on placement at JT Search since 3 November 2025 through the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme, supported by Itec. Working in a recruitment agency, he has been developing his skills in a business administration role while preparing to start his IT qualification alongside his placement. This combination has allowed Ghansham to gain hands-on workplace experience while building the knowledge he needs for the future.
From the beginning, the variety of the role has kept him engaged.
“The placement is very fun and interesting because there are lots of different parts I can do to stay busy.” – Ghansham
Ghansham’s role involves supporting day-to-day recruitment activity, organising tasks, and working across multiple computer systems. This is an area he particularly enjoys, as it allows him to work efficiently and support the team around him.
“Not only does it make things easier for me, but it helps the people I work with as well.”
– Ghansham
Trying out different tasks has given Ghansham a clearer understanding of how a recruitment business operates and helped him develop practical skills that transfer across roles. Since starting the placement, Ghansham has grown noticeably in confidence. He now feels more comfortable communicating with colleagues, working independently, and dealing with challenges as they arise.
“I’ve learned to communicate better, work well with others, and do the practical tasks of my job more confidently.” – Ghansham
At the start, the role felt like a big learning curve. However, with encouragement from the team at JT Search and the structure provided through Jobs Growth Wales+, Ghansham was supported to ask questions, learn from feedback, and gradually take on more responsibility. This supportive environment played a key role in helping him build confidence and independence.
One of the aspects Ghansham values most about working in recruitment is knowing that his work can have a positive impact on others. Supporting candidates as they move into employment is especially meaningful for him, and this sense of purpose continues to motivate him in his role.
Ghansham is keen to continue developing his skills and has a strong interest in areas such as business marketing, negotiation, and how organisations can give back to their communities. Starting his IT qualification alongside the placement will support these goals and help strengthen his future career prospects.
Reflecting on his experience so far, Ghansham feels the placement has played a major role in building his confidence, something he recognises as essential for long-term success. With the support of Itec and the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme, his time at JT Search shows how real workplace experience, combined with the right support, can help young people grow in confidence, skills, and ambition.
