Gabrielle Gump X Ty Enfys
Gabrielle’s Journey from Itec to Pursuing Her Dream of Midwifery
Gabrielle has made an inspiring leap from Itec Skills and Employment to Northampton College, following her dream of becoming a midwife. Since joining the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme with Itec in June, Gabrielle has worked hard to develop both her work-based and life skills, preparing herself for the next stage of her education.
Angela Price, learner coach met Gabrielle and instantly placed her on the advancement strand. Within a week, Gareth Williams, an Employability Officer, got her an interview at Ty Enfys. Gabrielle undertook the placement, where she excelled and impressed everyone with her dedication and enthusiasm. Angela messaged Gabrielle weekly to check in, Gareth checked in with the employer.
Gabrielle came into the Swansea centre regularly for wellbeing check in’s, Red Dot and reviews. She was supported by Sarah Shaw, Youth Tutor, to complete her 401 qualifications. Angela helped Gabrielle write a personal statement which enabled her to gain a place in college. Alex Thomas, Learner Support Co Ordinator, assisted Gabrielle with updating her CV and Kieran Richards, Counsellor, was always at hand if Gabrielle needed any support with her mental health. Gabrielle’s growth, confidence, and professional skills flourished in the supportive environment at Itec Skills and Employment.
Angela Price reflected on Gabrielle’s journey, “Gabrielle was engaging from the outset, demonstrating a clear vision for her future and strong aspirations. Her communication skills were excellent, which allowed her to make a positive impression early on. Gabrielle continues to show great ambition in pursuing her future goals and is well-positioned for continued success.”
Reflecting on her experience, Gabrielle shared: “Going to Itec has been one of the best decisions I’ve made since leaving Sixth Form. You’ve helped me come out of my shell in ways I didn’t think were possible and I’ve grown so much, not just in skills, but as a person. Being there, surrounded by that energy and support, has genuinely felt like a breath of fresh air. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done for me.”
Everyone at Itec wishes Gabrielle the very best of luck as she embarks on this exciting next chapter of her journey at Northampton College. With her drive, determination, and newly honed skills, there’s no doubt she will continue to shine and make her mark in the field of midwifery.
