Brendan Ball
Supporting Engagement Through the Right Fit: Brendan’s Journey on Jobs Growth Wales+
Brendan joined the Jobs Growth Wales+ scheme on the advancement strand however he struggled to find to engage with the programme. This meant that his first two placements ended early due to low engagement as he struggled to adapt to the workplace expectations and had inconsistent attendance.
The Aberdare centre staff really worked closely together and with him in order to identify the barriers that he had and provide additional support. This then lead to exploring vocational areas that better suited his interests and learning style.
When Brendan was offered a mechanics placement which immediately proved to be a strong match for his skills and preferences. His attendance improved, his behaviour stabilised, and he began to show genuine enthusiasm and commitment to his work.
Placement feedback has been consistently positive, highlighting his reliability and growing confidence. As a result of this significant progress, Brendan is now thriving and is in the process of being progressed back onto the Advancement Strand, demonstrating a remarkable turnaround in both attitude and performance
