Finance assistant

Location: Caldicot

Hours: 40 hours a week

Roles and responsibilites:

Purchase Ledger (Primary Focus)

  • Support with raising of purchase orders.
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in line with internal controls.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain supplier accounts, ensuring statements are reconciled monthly.
    • Assist with payment runs.
    • Respond to supplier queries promptly and professionally.
    • Support month end processes
    Treasury & Cash Management (Development Exposure)
  • Assist with daily bank reconciliations.
  • Support monitoring of cash inflows/outflows and updating cashflow trackers.
    General Finance & Administrative Duties
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc tasks, reporting, and projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes.
  • Uphold confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance at all times.
    Skills, Attributes & Experience
    Essential
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
    Desirable
  • GCSEs/A Levels or equivalent, ideally including Maths or Business.
  • Any exposure to office or administrative work.
  • Interest in pursuing AAT or similar finance qualifications.
