Unleashing Passion: Breanna Bounds Towards Career with Animals

Since joining Itec in Merthyr in January 2025, Breanna has shown incredible determination and focus in pursuing her dream of working in animal care, specifically dog grooming. Despite facing the challenge of dyslexia, Breanna has never let this hold her back. She’s shown resilience and a positive attitude every step of the way.

When Breanna started at Itec, the Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) team made sure she received the right support to help her succeed. As with all learners, they worked closely with her to create a learning environment where she felt comfortable and confident, knowing that her dyslexia wouldn’t stop her from achieving her goals. This tailored approach has allowed Breanna to progress steadily and focus on her qualifications, without feeling overwhelmed.

Breanna came to Itec with a placement already secured at Pawfection Dog Groomers in Treharris, giving her the chance to gain hands-on experience in the dog grooming industry. Alongside her placement, Itec has supported Breanna with qualifications that will set her up for future success. She has already completed and passed her Employability 301 qualification and is now working on completing the Employability 401 and Level 1 Customer Service qualifications on the Advancement strand. These qualifications will not only help her develop key skills but also ensure she is prepared for the workplace and ready to provide excellent customer service.

What makes Breanna’s journey so special is her determination to succeed despite the challenges she faces. She has proven that with the right support, hard work, and dedication, anything is possible. Breanna’s journey is an inspiration to others, showing that it’s not the challenges we face, but how we respond to them, that defines our success.
